FEEL GOOD IN YOUR SKIN

Which Hair Growth Serum / Oil Actually Work?

As you may know, there are a lot of hair care products out there that claim to do amazing things for your hair, however, a lot of them are poorly & cheaply made with little to no research.

Even the big brands that dominate the market use extremely cheap ingredients to maximise profits and revenue. And because it is so cheaply made, they can then sell cheaply so a lot more will be sold, and because they are so cheap...you will continue to buy them. This doesn't mean that there aren't good & affordable products out there, there definitely are...so I'm going to tell you what you should look out for in terms of hair growth ingredients, and what to avoid.

Hair Growth Ingredients (That have been scientifically studied with proven results):

  • Peppermint Oil: In a study done by Toxicological Research in December of 2014, titled: ‘Peppermint Oil Promotes Hair Growth without Toxic Signs’ - The conclusion found was that by week 2, Peppermint Oil promoted more hair growth than Minoxidil and continued doing so over the course of the study. If you don't know what Minoxidil is, it is a hair growth spray, made by Pfizer; it was originally made as heart medication and then later changed to hair growth product. It is important to note that you should not apply peppermint oil straight to your scalp, it is extremely potent and should be diluted carefully. Our hair growth oil, called growth has the perfect amount of peppermint oil for hair growth. (It is linked here if you wish to check it out)
  • Rosemary Oil:  In a research study published in February of 2015 titled: ‘Rosemary Oil vs Minoxidil 2% for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia: A randomised comparative trial’ - The conclusion found was that after 6 months of use, both Rosemary Oil and Minoxidil 2% saw the same amount of increased hair count on participants of the trial. The great news in this case is that Minoxidil has a lot of side effects that Rosemary Oil does not have. Also, Rosemary Oil is a natural substance. Just like Peppermint Oil, it is important to note that Rosemary Oil is extremely potent and shouldn't be applied directly on the scalp, it should be carefully diluted with other carrier substances. The good news is that our growth hair oil has the perfect amount of Rosemary Oil for hair growth. (It is linked here if you wish to check it out)
  • Caffeine: Caffeine is a potent inhibitor of PDE, by being a potent PDE inhibitor, it indirectly stimulates IGF 1 which causes an increase in hair growth. Caffeine has also been found to prolong the anagen phase of the hair growth cycle. Resulting in an increase in hair growth and hair density. It is important to note that this is with topical use. Don't pour coffee or energy drink on your head, instead you can a product that has caffeine infused into it. You can find caffeine in our growth hair oil also.  (It is linked here if you wish to check it out)
  • Turmeric: This is an absolute super food for many reasons, one of those reasons includes hair growth. It contains a substance called Curcumin. Curcumin is has anti inflammatory properties, antioxidant effects, is a natural DHT blocker which is the main culprit for hair loss & improves scalp health. Our hair oil is infused with Turmeric, of course. (It is linked here if you wish to check it out)

Ingredients That Are Good For Your Scalp:

  • Sweet Almond Oil: Sweet almond oil is beneficial for the scalp due to its rich content of fatty acids, vitamins E and A, and its anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. It helps hydrate and soothe the scalp, reduces dryness and irritation, and promotes healthy hair growth by nourishing hair follicles. Its gentle, non-comedogenic nature makes it suitable for most skin types, while its ability to improve scalp circulation and combat dandruff adds to its effectiveness in maintaining a healthy scalp. Regular use can strengthen hair, prevent breakage, and support overall hair health.
  • Argan Oil: Argan oil is beneficial for the scalp due to its rich composition of essential nutrients and its hydrating, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. It contains high levels of vitamin E, fatty acids (especially oleic and linoleic acids), and antioxidants, which help moisturize and nourish the scalp, reducing dryness, flakiness, and irritation. Argan oil's anti-inflammatory effects can soothe scalp conditions like dandruff and psoriasis, while its antioxidants protect the scalp from oxidative stress and environmental damage. Regular use of argan oil can improve scalp health, promote stronger hair growth, and enhance overall hair softness and shine.
  • Jojoba Oil: Jojoba oil is beneficial for the scalp because it closely mimics the natural sebum produced by the skin, helping to balance oil production and maintain a healthy scalp. It's rich in vitamins E and B, as well as minerals like zinc and copper, which nourish the scalp and hair follicles. Jojoba oil's moisturizing properties help prevent dryness, flakiness, and dandruff while soothing irritation. Its non-comedogenic nature ensures it won't clog pores, making it suitable for all skin types. Additionally, jojoba oil can improve scalp circulation, promote hair growth, and strengthen hair, leading to healthier, shinier locks.

Ingredients To Avoid:

  • Any Sulfate/Sulphate Ingredients: Sulfates in hair products can be harsh, stripping away natural oils that keep hair moisturized and protected, leading to dryness, frizz, and damage. They can also irritate the scalp, fade color-treated hair, and disrupt the scalp's natural balance. For these reasons, many people prefer sulfate-free shampoos, which are gentler and help maintain hair's natural moisture and health.
  • Alcohol: Topical alcohol can be bad for your hair because it is drying and can strip away the natural oils that keep your hair moisturized and healthy. This can lead to dryness, brittleness, and frizz, making hair more prone to breakage and damage. Alcohol can also irritate the scalp, causing dryness and flakiness, which can disrupt the overall health of both your hair and scalp.
  • Parabens: Parabens are considered bad for your hair because they can potentially disrupt the natural balance of your scalp, leading to irritation and dryness. As synthetic preservatives, parabens are used in hair products to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold, but they can cause allergic reactions or sensitivities in some people, resulting in scalp irritation. Additionally, parabens have been linked to hormone disruption, as they can mimic estrogen in the body, raising concerns about long-term health effects. While the impact on hair specifically is still debated, many people prefer to avoid parabens to reduce exposure to potentially harmful chemicals.
  • Sodium Chloride: Sodium chloride, commonly known as table salt, can contribute to hair loss primarily by drying out the hair and scalp. It is often used as a thickening agent in shampoos and other hair products. When applied topically, sodium chloride can strip the hair and scalp of natural oils, leading to dryness, brittleness, and irritation. This drying effect can weaken the hair shafts, making them more prone to breakage and potentially contributing to hair thinning over time. Additionally, for people with sensitive scalps or existing scalp conditions, sodium chloride can exacerbate irritation and inflammation, further contributing to hair loss.
  • Silicones: Silicones themselves don't directly cause hair loss, but their use in hair products can contribute to hair issues. They can build up on the hair shaft, leading to dullness, breakage, and weighed-down strands. This build-up can also clog scalp pores, causing irritation and potentially affecting hair growth. Additionally, silicones may prevent moisture and nutrients from penetrating the hair, leading to dryness and brittleness. The difficulty in removing silicones often requires harsh clarifying shampoos, which can further strip natural oils and exacerbate hair damage.

Just to let you know, none of our hair products contain any of these ingredients. We focus on natural ingredients that are backed by science as well as real world results. If you wish, you can check out our products here. :)

I hope this has helped, even if it is a little. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to read some of my writing, it truly means a lot. :)
